The study

Investigating the possible association between MICA gene polymorphism and cardiovascular complications in Type 1 Diabetes Egyptian patients

First author · Newgiza University graduation project · under review for publication, 2025

An observational cross-sectional study of 114 Egyptian patients with type 1 diabetes, run at the National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology between September and December 2024. MICA genotyping by real-time PCR across exons 2 to 4 and the exon 5 short tandem repeats, read against echocardiography, carotid intima-media thickness and a full biomarker panel. Carriers of the TT genotype were far more likely to have cardiovascular complications than CC carriers.
